What are HIV and AIDS?

Symptoms of AIDS:
The first symptoms of HIV infection are swollen glands and fever-like symptoms. These may come and go within a month or two after infection. Serious symptoms may appear months or years later.

Early symptoms of HIV infection in both men and women include:

• Fever
• Lymphadenopathy
• Night sweats
• Fatigue and headache
• Diarrhea
• Sore throat and dry cough
• Skin rash
